Hello again
Once again we are well and truly into bloom season, which can only mean one of two things….either it’s time for me to get out and about again with my camera, for those new daylily images I’m always chasing, or it’s time I catch up with my clients and give you my latest news and special offers!

Delightful Daylilies
Many thanks to all who purchased varieties from this catalogue earlier this year. For those of you who may be thinking of ordering from it shortly, we have sold out of the most popular varieties featured, and I am having some difficulty in finding substitutes that are similar to the sold out ones! I have reserved some plants of each variety which have been relocated to new beds to multiply, and by April 2011 there should be a limited number available. If you would like to place a back order for any of these please send an
email with your selection and we’ll contact you again when they become available.

I’m glad to report we still have plenty available of the two beautiful varieties pictured here from the Delightful Daylilies catalogue! Pictured on the left is the largest daylily, at a huge 10” diameter, the striking and spidery YABBA DABBA DOO (price $16) and pictured on the right is the very smallest at 2.5” diameter, the delightful miniature SMALL GESTURE (price $10).

We've seen an increased demand during 2010 for many spider varieties, with more gardeners choosing them to create very striking garden displays. Their unusual form makes a wonderful contrast to the more well known forms of daylily. Miniature varieties have been very popular once again this year, as they continue to be the perfect choice for colour accents in small gardens or where space is limited.

Heavenly Daylilies Catalogue
Sales from our latest catalogue are going well and it didn’t take long for SOLOMON’S ROBES and SUGAR COOKIE to sell out! PIRATE’S PROMISE and OCEAN ICE are also proving to be very popular choices. I have a good substitute for Solomon’s Robes, so you won’t be disappointed if you have not yet ordered yours!  If you have not received a copy of our new look catalogue, you can view it on-line
here or please email your name and postal address if you would like one posted to you.

New Homes for 100’s of Daylilies
Every three years I prepare very large new beds at the farm, and we relocate most of our stock to these new areas.  Prior to cultivating the new beds, tonnes of compost and very fine basalt crusher dust are spread over them, plus a special blend of organic fertiliser, and lime.  The daylilies really thrive in these new beds and multiply rapidly.

This year approx 700 of the 1000+ different varieties have been moved - a huge job for my field staff! It’s taken much longer than I anticipated, due to a wetter than normal winter and spring this year, however these conditions have been ideal for a speedier recovery by the transplanted divisions. It won’t be long now before they increase in size and begin to multiply again. If you have ordered plants from us recently, you may recall we mentioned the “Big Move” and how the plants were not quite the usual size. As I write, the lads are busy relocating the varieties beginning with W and we shall be at the end of the alphabet before summer arrives!
